About Leva & Mabi

Leva & Mabi is home to Meghan Grant’s creative projects, explorations, and learnings. Founded in 2014, her studio is currently located in the heart of the Peak District, England.

As an artist, Meghan works within the realms of abstraction, where she candidly examines her relationships with childhood trauma and explores how she incorporates elements of the natural world into her recovery process and daily art practice.

Meghan’s artistic endeavours are also deeply rooted in research, data cataloguing, collections, and rituals, including the act of walking. It is during her daily walks that she finds and forages objects for her artworks, which later enable her to share her stories and tell her truths.

About Meghan Grant

Born in a deprived part of Leicester, UK, in 1984, Meghan’s love of art started in early childhood. Diagnosed with leukaemia at age three, she spent most of her formative years in isolation. Drawing and learning became her steadfast companions within the cold and sterile hospital rooms.

During her teenage years, Meghan continued experimenting with styles, mediums, and traditional techniques before discovering her passion for creating abstract art and sculpture inspired by artists such as Anselm Kiefer, Phyllida Barlow, and Andy Goldsworthy.

In 2005, she moved to Malta, where she worked and resided until 2015. Meghan held multiple exhibitions there and has also shown her work at the Derby Museum, UK.

Meghan’s Art Practice

Meghan is currently based in Derbyshire, UK. She works remotely from her home studios.

During her morning walks across the local woodlands and rugged fields, Meghan mindfully searches for the objects she later works with. The objects are often discarded human-made items, and others are discovered during her foraging rituals. Regardless of how they are sourced, Meghan carefully logs their details and stores them away for later use.

Mythology and folklore play a massive part in Meghan’s practice, as do plants, mapping and recording their terrains and landscapes and learning their histories and purposes.

In addition, Meghan also uses many digital tools, including Photoshop and AI and is a Midjourney Guide.
